We have Jaska in Finland with a view on this subject, and a view very similar to your own I expect.

I need to do some thinking on this subject and that will be at the top of my agenda for the rest of the week.

Meanwhile I'll really appreciate some real life examples of incoming, the need to keep records and associated plans and actions. Can you help me with that in any way.

I'll layout some of my own in the meantime.

Where do you think is the best place to share ideas on this? We can do it here, or in the new Pro-Zone now it's ready to go, or even Wave if you'd like to try that.

Re: Email – What Do You Think

I totally concur with Andy, the importance of assigning an E Mail to an individual is really important to the way that I organise my schedules and client relationships. Assigning E Mails to plans does not work for me in all instances, so I need the flexibility previously mentioned.

Many thanks
Best regards
Terry Savage

Re: Email – What Do You Think

Steve,
you've hit the nail right on the head when describing FOB as "a management application, for relationships, plans and schedules".

My preference in managing client relationships is client, plan, schedules.

The company is the 'source point', followed by the individual(s) with whom you have the relationship within the client company. Plans and schedules follow.

The ability to initially assign email to client rather than plan is easier and quicker for me particularly as there are continuous random requests for information conducted. Recognising that plan could be more specific is a taken. However the simplicity of assigning email first to the client and secondly to the plan works better for me.

Re: Transitioning to FOB3 and Open for Business

Steve,

I know that there has been a lot of effort and time gone into the development of FOB3 - good luck with the transition - its a great back office business instrument.

Regards

Andy

Re: Apture.com and Wordpress ROCK

Hey Steven,

This is a really interesting observation. BT has been a pet hate of mine for years, mostly because of the way it keeps changing its price plans with sole objective of confusing people. It's a typical infrastructure business trying to exploit a near monopoly.

The worst thing of all is not providing users with a transition path. It really couldn't be that difficult to provide an export to any number of free services.

I had a workspace account but never used it so don't know anything about the tools if offers or what you've been using it for.

Have you looked at Evernote? that might offer an alternative, and maybe even Posterous?

Best of luck - Steve

Re: Go Ex-directory With Your UK Mobile Number

Hi Neil from 118800.co.uk here,

Just wanted to clear up a few errors in your post.

We don’t give out mobile numbers. 118800 is a service for connecting people that know each other’s name and address. In the majority of cases it will be a friend or colleague who has lost your number or doesn’t have it on them and needs to get in touch. If you are contacted it will be by 118800 calling to announce the name of that person, or sending a text message with the name and number of the person trying to get in touch. It will then be up to you whether you want to speak to them or not.

We do not have children listed in our directory and all data is checked to ensure the individuals are adults. However a child may be in possession of a phone number that is listed in our directory if it previously belonged to an adult. So to be sure, it’s best to make children’s numbers ex-directory.

Just to reiterate we do not sell data to anyone, so cold calling will not result from our service. If you receive an enquiry the call will be announced by 118800 and it is likely to be a friend or colleague who has lost your number or doesn’t have it on them and needs to get in touch.

118800 connect people that know each other, we don’t give out numbers to anyone.

For more information please visit our website on http://www.118800.co.uk

Or watch how the service works http://www.youtube.com/watc...

Thanks,

Neil

Re: Two Words Made a Millionaire

Hi Steve, thanks for stopping by and taking the trouble to comment.

I just love these stories but can't for the life of me remember where I heard this one. It obviously has the same root as yours.

It probably came up on one of those sales training courses so many years ago, but seems more apposite today, I think, because some people make things complicated.

I'll have to dredge my brain to see if I can't remember some more.
